GSU Co-Ed Volleyball League

Thanks for a great 2011-2012 season! Please click here for a recap.

Looking to play again in 2012-2013 or join the GSU Volleyball League for the first time? The organizational and sign-up meeting for all divisions takes place on Monday, September 10 at noon in the GSU gym (16 Bancroft Avenue).  Once again, there will be four divisions to choose from:

Recreational: Recreation means anything goes (playing just for “fun”). There are no playoffs. Games take place Tuesday at 5, 6, or 7pm.

Intermediate B: Intermediate means playing by the rules, but not necessarily strictly called. There are 2 divisions, A and B, with the teams at the bottom of A being swapped with the top teams in division B for next season. The intention is that division A games should be called more strictly than division B games, and the level of play should be higher. High level players should NOT be playing Intermediate B, where blocks are not solid and “softer” spiking would be the norm. New teams would normally start in the B division. Games take place Mondays at 8, 9, or 10pm and Wednesdays at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, or 10pm. Occasionally teams play Tuesdays at 8, 9, or 10pm. There is a playoff.

Intermediate A: See above. Games take place on Mondays at 5, 6, or 7pm. There is a playoff.

Competitive: Competitive means hard spiking, blocking required, setters running plays, very strict rules. The top teams in these divisions match up well with the best teams in other city leagues. Games take place on Tuesdays at 8, 9 or 10pm. There is a playoff.

The league is governed by a set of rules – you can view them here. (pdf)
