Join Dr. Caprara and Dr Soroka, Ob/Gyn to find out how to make healthy choices that lead to a healthy lifestyle and promote wellness during pre-pregnancy, pregnancy and postpartum. The session will address participants’ specific concerns on a range of topics related to pregnancy and post-partum issues. This family event provides an opportunity for U of T families to connect and network in a relaxed setting, while their children (up to 5 years of age) interact and play in the same room. Sunday, May 6; 2:00 – 5:00 pm. Held at the University of Toronto Multi-faith Centre – 569 Spadina Avenue. U of T scholars Shari Golberg and Nevin Reda lead inter-faith dialogue and text study on the first woman in Jewish and Muslim traditions. Muslim and Jewish women of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. No previous experience with Jewish or Islamic texts is necessary. Space is limited. General public: $20. UTSU Food and Clothing Bank

UTSU Food and Clothing Bank is open to all U of T students in need. Volunteer support is needed between May-August 2012, 3 hour commitment on Fridays. The hours are flexible but generally are 10:00-1:00 or 12:00-3:00. Volunteers will receive a volunteer certificate. Great opportunity to get involved, help fellow students and meet new people.

Mining Injustice Conference: Resistance

Join us this year as we host our 4th annual Mining Injustice Conference! Learn about the work of communities in Canada and around the world that are resisting the negative impacts of Canadian mega-mining projects. Share ideas and collaborate on strategies in solidarity with community members who suffer at the hands of Canadian mining corporations, which confuse “development” with exploitation and environmental degradation.

The GSU endorses the Quebec students’ strike

The GSU endorses the Quebec students’ strike whose goals include preventing a massive 75% increase in fees over the next 5 years. A letter was sent on behalf of GSU council to Minister Beauchamp and Premier Charest urging them to have a dialogue with students and keep post-secondary education in Quebec the most accessible in Canada.
