PERSONAL STATEMENT

Hi everyone! This is my second year with the Graduate Students' Union. Plenty of the
issues that were faced by our graduate population last year still continue to be critical goals of our agenda this year. These issues include our administration's "Towards 2030" statement that blatantly
advocates for the deregulation of tuition fees and commercialization of research, the integration of international students under OHIP, graduate enrollment expansion, and a multitude of other issues. My goal this year is to maximize the mobilization of graduate students to fight for an accessible and equitable academic environment.

Please contact me if you are interested in joining our social justice committee. We are organizing a massive provincial day of action with the Canadian Federation of Students (CFS) in the fall, and we hope to make a clear statement to our representatives at Queen's Park to advocate for positive policies and for the progressive transformation of our educational system. We also work in solidarity with a number of grassroots groups both on and off campus. Your input and participation
is key in this fight for justice. Please contact me if you have any questions, ideas, or events you would like to publicize, I'm looking forward for another great year with the GSU.

DUTIES OF THE VICE-PRESIDENT EXTERNAL (from GSU By-law)

1. to be responsible for the representation of the Corporation in provincial and national Student organizations;

2. to be responsible for organizing the Corporation campaigns on campus as directed by the Executive and developed by the Campaigns Committee;

3. to be responsible for representing the Corporation at other Student or campus organizations, particularly the TA and GA unions and OPIRG, and such other committees as recommended by the Executive;

4. to Chair the Campaigns Committee;

5. to attend conferences that will enhance the interests of the corporation;

6. and to perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
