How to Opt-Out
To opt-out, you must show proof of equivalent insurance (not OHIP/UHIP). You must opt-out annually, at the beginning of the term you are first registered in. You cannot rejoin the plan after you have opted out, so check the expiry date on your insurance. Opt-outs are done online only. Opt-Out Reimbursements
Fall Semester Opt-Out Reimbursements:
The Fall Semester opt-out refunds will be issued after the add/drop period is over. Cheques/Direct Deposits/E-Transfers will be mailed out during the third week of November. You should have received an email with an application number after you opted out. That is your confirmation that you completed the opt-out successfully. If you do not receive your refund by the middle of December, please send an email, including the confirmation email you received when you opted out (which has the application number), and your student number to: health@utgsu.ca and we will forward it to the broker for investigation.
