Opt-Out Refunds (2013-2014)
If you opted out during the 2013-2014 opt out period, you will receive a full refund, however, it is divided into two installments. The first installment cheque will be mailed to you in November. The second installment will be mailed to you in March after Studentcare will receive the list of students registered for the Winter. You DO NOT need to opt out again in January.
Opt-in/Opt-out for 2013-2014 CLOSED
The Change of Coverage Period to Opt-in/Opt-out is now closed. The deadline was September 30th at 11:59 p.m. Students who missed the deadline in the Fall cannot opt-in/opt-out again until the following year. January 2014 opt-in/opt-out period is ONLY for the students who start their program in January.
If you are a student who already has equivalent insurance, you may opt-out of these plans. You must opt-out annually, at the beginning of the term you are first registered in. Students who missed the deadline in the Fall can not opt out again until the following year. You cannot rejoin the plan after you have opted-out, so check the expiry date on your insurance.
NOTE: OHIP does not provide coverage equivalent to the Graduate Students Health and Dental Plan; therefore, you cannot opt-out if you are only covered by OHIP. Travel health coverage obtained by international students in their home country may not provide an equivalent level of benefits to this Plan.

Students charged Fall 2013 fees: September 1st – September 30th, 2013
Students charged Winter 2014 fees: January 3rd – January 17th, 2014

Health and Dental Fees are a part of the Incidental fees and are collected as two equal sessional amounts – Fall Session and Winter Session.
The Opt-Out cheques will be mailed out at the end of November 2013 for the fall session, and, again at the end of March 2014 for the winter session. If you do not receive your cheques by the end of April, please forward the confirmation email you received when you opted out (this has the application number) and we will forward it to the broker for investigation.
