International students play a vital role in the University and larger community by conducting research and teaching tutorials. As well, our international students contribute to our national economy to a total of $2.7 billion a year. International students face increasing costs beyond tuition. User fees for immigration and employment visas have risen. International student parents are being asked to pay elementary and secondary school fees for their children and do not qualify for daycare subsidies. They are not eligible for most student funding. The GSU will continue to work hard to ensure U of T remains a welcoming place for international students.
All International students should contact the International Student Centre for information on a variety of services to assist in negotiating being an International Student at UofT.
