1. UTGSU Executive Nomination Period Closes Tomorrow!
Don’t miss out on your chance to join the UTGSU Executive Team for 2017-2018! The UTGSU Elections are fast approaching and nominations for the six UTGSU Executive Officer positions officially close tomorrow, Friday, January 27, at 5:00 pm. Nomination forms are currently available at the UTGSU Offices (16 Bancroft Ave.) during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (10:00 am – 5:00 pm), online at www.utgsu.ca/elections or by special arrangement with the CRO (email cro@utgsu.ca)The term of office for these positions is May 1, 2017 to April 30, 2018. 2.Elections and Referenda Committee (ERC) Poll
The 2017 Elections and Referenda Committee (ERC) wants to hear from you before this year’s annual Executive elections and referendum! The ERC greatly appreciates feedback from all University of Toronto graduate students and wants to know how to recommend best practices for the future. Please fill out the form below before January 30th, 2017. 3.Health and Dental Insurance Opt-out and Opt-in Period: Ends January 30, 2017
IMPORTANT: The Health & Dental Insurance Change-of-Coverage Period for NEW students only starting in January 2017 ends 30,2017. Full and part-time graduate students are automatically covered by the UTGSU Health & Dental Plan. There is no waiting period to be enrolled on the plan, however, there is a blackout period for students starting in January (until March 1st) for submitting the claims. The University sends the list of all active students directly to the broker to be uploaded on the Green Shield System after the enrollment period is completed. 4. New to Campus in 2017 January?  UTGSU Agenda and Resource Guides Can Help
Come and pick up your copy of the UTGSU Agenda and Resource Guide to help you navigate campus. You can find the agendas at your Graduate Student Union on 16 Bancroft Avenue, in the basement offices. We would love to meet you!

5. Reserve Gym time for February on Friday 27 January at 10:00
UTGSU gym time can be reserved from the last Friday of each month starting at 10.00. To book please call416 978 8464. Call early as space disappears quickly. Names and Student ID numbers are verified when booking. Daytime usage is reserved for quiet activities such as meditation and singles badminton. Thursday night is set-aside for basketball and Friday evenings for doubles badminton. Graduate students can play pick-up recreational basketball on Thursdays from 19:00 to 22:00. Monday through Wednesday evenings the gym is reserved the UTGSU Volleyball League. Students must provide their T-card upon request.

6. UTGSU Board of Directors / General Council Meeting: Tuesday, 31 January at 18.10
There will be a UTGSU General Council meeting on Tuesday 31 January at 18.10 in Wilson Hall, New College, room 1016. All UTGSU Members are welcome, but only Representatives elected by their Course Union have the right to speak and vote. If you are not a Representative and you wish to speak, you can have your Course Union Representative request this on your behalf during the meeting. If you are a Council Representative and wish to send a proxy, please email internal@utgsu.ca andfieldworker@utgsu.ca no later than the previous Friday with the name and email address of the proxy voter. 7. Professional Graduate Students’ Caucus Meet and Greet
We’re having a Meet and Greet Social event next Tuesday Feb. 7th @ 6:30 PM at the Prenup Pub (191 College St, Toronto, ON M5T 1P9).  It will be a time to meet the caucus executives and also network with other professional graduate students. Please confirm your attendance by emailing the PGSC Chair at pgsc@utgsu.ca.

8. International Students’ Caucus Welcome Back Event at ROM Friday Night Live
The International Students’ Caucus (ISC) is organizing a welcome back party at Friday Night Live (FNL) at ROM to welcome all the international graduate students for the Winter term on Feb 3rd 2017 at 7:00 pm. Join us to enjoy this special event and socialize with your fellow international students. For more information about FNL check http://www.rom.on.ca/en/whats-on/rom-friday-night-live#/gallery/recent. 9Surviving Together; A Self-Advocacy Workshop for Disabled Students
Join Students for Barrier-free Access (SBA) for a student-run orientation for disabled graduate students and student advocates. Topics covered at the orientation: Know Your Rights as a disabled student, Presented by ARCH Disability Law Centre, self-advocacy and navigating academic accommodations, introduction to campus resources and services for disabled students, introduction to Students for Barrier-Free Access’ resources and services. Date: Friday February 10, 2017. Time: 3pm-5pm. Location: 246 Bloor Street West (Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social work) room 702, 7th floor. If you require ASL to participate in the event, or if you have any other access needs please contact Nadia at sba.advocacycoordinator@gmail.com.

10.Mustard Making – Harvest Noon Condiment Workshop Series: Tuesday February 7th, 6-9pm
Join Harvest Noon for the second of our three part condiment making workshop series and learn how to make your very own mustard! We will have options to make your mustard spicy, sweet, garlicky, or whatever suits your fancy. COST: $10 for Harvest Noon/UTGSU members; $15 for non-members (includes $5 lifetime Harvest Noon membership); Pay What You Can spaces also available for those experiencing financial difficulty. 11. Sexual Health Awareness Week (SHAW): February 6-10, 2017
The Sexual Education Centre at the University of Toronto presents: Sexual Health Awareness Week (SHAW)! SHAW is a week of fun and free events promoting sexual health and celebrating sexuality in general! All the events take place on the St. George campus between February 6th to 10th. Events include a research-based discussion on improving sexual satisfaction and a make-your-own sexy picture book activity (among others). 14. CUPE 3902 Flying Squad Meeting
Come join us as we plan for the upcoming round of bargaining. We will be discussing upcoming bargaining questions and how we, as Flying Squad, might help our Team and Local prepare for them. As always, all members of our Local are invited to attend. Thursday, February 16, 2017, 7-10 PM​. Have you ever been through a breakup where you hated the world AND yourself? This movie explores what that’s like. U of T alumni and indie filmmaker, Curt Jaimungal, ​shows us that romance is also about mental health. ​If you enjoy watching unique films and love Toronto, you’ll love this!
