1. Vote in the UTGSU Election February 27 & 28 and Win Prizes!
The UTGSU Executive Election is less than a week away! Come out and vote on February 27th and 28th from 11:00 am- 5:00 pm at the various polling stations across all three campuses (List of polling stations). Please note that you must be a registered graduate student to be eligible to vote in the Executive Election. Your vote matters to ensure that your Executive Committee is representing your needs as graduate students. As well, each voter has the opportunity to enter our contest to win a pair of headphones, a grocery gift card, or a Starbucks gift card! VOTE next Monday and Tuesday! 2. UTGSU Board of Directors / General Council Meeting: Tuesday, 28 February at 18.10
There will be a UTGSU General Council meeting on Tuesday 28 February at 18.10 in Wilson Hall, New College, room 1016. All UTGSU Members are welcome, but only Representatives elected by their Course Union have the right to speak and vote. If you are not a Representative and you wish to speak, you can have your Course Union Representative request this on your behalf during the meeting. If you are a Council Representative and wish to send a proxy, please email internal@utgsu.ca and fieldworker@utgsu.ca no later than the previous Friday with the name and email address of the proxy voter. 3. Reserve Gym Time for March on Friday 24 February at 10:00
UTGSU gym time can be reserved from the last Friday of each month starting at 10.00. To book please call 416 978 8464. Call early as space disappears quickly. Names and Student ID numbers are verified when booking. Daytime usage is reserved for quiet activities such as meditation and singles badminton. Thursday night is set-aside for basketball and Friday evenings for doubles badminton. Graduate students can play pick-up recreational basketball on Thursdays from 19:00 to 22:00. Monday through Wednesday evenings the gym is reserved the UTGSU Volleyball League. Students must provide their T-card upon request.

4. Grad Talk: Talking to New People: March 1, 12-1:30pm
Does the idea of walking into a room full of strangers make you want to run in the opposite direction?  Are you really interested in finding a mentor but don’t know what to talk to them about? We will teach you the tips and techniques that will make those conversations a lot less awkward and a lot more meaningful. 5. Grad Escape: Cooking on a Student Budget: March 9, 6-8pm
Come to this interactive cooking class where you will be involved in making parts of the menu! A 3 courses menu will be served as well as non-alcoholic beverages. To register for this event, please click here: http://uoft.me/2RC.

6. Income Tax Sessions for International Students
The International Students’ Caucus (ISC) invites you to register for the Centre for International Students tax information workshop on March 2, from 6-8 p.m. You will learn what your responsibilities are for filing income taxes in Canada, and have the chance to ask an expert any questions you have about the process. 7. Know Your Rights: No One is Illegal – Toronto
No One is Illegal – Toronto, wants all migrants to know their rights! This guide aims to provide basic legal information to people without immigration status so that they will be able to better protect themselves from the risks of immigration arrest and detention. 8. Inter-University/College Disability Conference: Reclaiming Our Bodies and Minds
As a graduate student, if you’d like to participate in the Reclaiming our Bodies and Minds Conference on March 10-11, but need help covering travel and accommodation costs, you can apply for a grant by Monday, February 27 at 9:00am ET. Please email funding@cfs-fcee.ca with your name, member local students’ union, phone number, and a paragraph on why you want to attend the conference and what you hope to gain from the experience. The subject line should include “Funding Request: ROBAM”. Make sure to include the amount of funding you’re requesting, up to a maximum of $800. Applications will be reviewed by the Students with Disabilities Representative on the National Executive.

9. University of Toronto’s 4th Annual Green Gala: Celebrating the Environmental Community
Building on the success of the last three Green Galas, which welcomed a total of 375+ staff, students, faculty and community members, this year’s celebration will include: A keynote address by Food Systems Planner, Tammara Soma, presentation of the Green Ribbon Awards (now in their 9th year), opportunity to engage with a graphic recorder about sustainability, and much more! There will be lots of opportunity for conversation and time to enjoy complimentary food and refreshments. The event will take place on: Thursday, March 9th at the Faculty Club. RSVP required!
