2. UTGSU Call Out For Board of Appeals Chair and Vice-Chair
The UTGSU is seeking two Members to serve as the Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson for the Board of Appeal. The Board of Appeal is the final level of appeals within the UTGSU and deals with concerns regarding the operations of all UTGSU bodies. The Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson are appointed by the General Council each September to serve until August 31st of the following year. Interested Members should send a statement of interest to

3. Join the UTGSU Executive Team as an Executive-at-Large
Interested in joining the UTGSU Executive? Consider becoming an Executive-at-Large! This position is open to any current UTGSU Member. Duties include supporting the 2017-2018 Executive Vision and UTGSU events, representing the UTGSU on various committees, attending weekly Executive meetings and a monthly General Council meeting. An honorarium is provided for this position. Elections will be held during the next UTGSU General Council meeting on MondayOctober 23rd, starting at 6:15pm, located at Koffler House Room 108 (569 Spadina Crescent). For more information or an accessibility request, please contact the Internal Commissioner at internal@utgsu.ca .

4. CUPE 3902 Back to Work BBQ
Happening on September 28 at 4:30pm (food will start being served at this time) in the laneway beside the UTGSU at 16 Bancroft Avenue. Join your fellow friends and union members at CUPE 3902’s Back to Work BBQ! You are encouraged to wear any CUPE swag you may have around the house – and show the Employer how strong you are together. Food will begin to be served at 4:30pm, please note limited quantities are available. Menu items include Alberta beef brisket on a bun, veggie burgers, BBQ chicken breast on a bun, salads, and frozen treats. The event is rain or shine.

5. UTGSU Caucuses are Recruiting New Executives
UTGSU Caucuses are identity-based groups on campus that work closely with graduate students and other internal University of Toronto organizations to build communities and host social, networking and other events to enhance the academic experience. Being part of one of the UTGSU Caucuses is a great opportunity to develop your soft skills and get involved in a wide range of initiatives. 6. UTGSU Gym Schedule for October
UTGSU Gym time can be reserved for the month of October on Friday, September 29, starting at 10:00am. To book call 416-978 8464. Call early as space fills up quickly. Names and Student ID numbers are verified when booking. Students must provide their Tcard upon request. Graduate students can play pick-up recreational basketball on Thursdays from 7-10pm. You may also book the UTGSU Gym for basketball on Thursdays and doubles badminton on Fridays for one hour per week. MondayTuesday and Wednesday evenings are reserved for the volleyball league. Volleyball drop-in is available from 8 -11 pm on October 3 and 10th. The League begins Monday, October 16th. Daytime bookings can be made from 10 am to 5 pm year round. 7. Levy Groups Opt-Out Periods

8. American Sign Language 101 – Class Sign Up
Interested learning American Sign Language and Deaf Culture? This course will focus on ASL basics, an introduction to Deaf Culture, and social justice signs. To directly express your interest for the course, please visit: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1k581bQVZtvM8vdOLnh4aTbsWO-XsyX9E3DhRcL7sbJ0. Classes will be Tuesdays from 4pm – 6pm, starting on September 26th. 9. Grad Minds Looking for Photographers
Are you passionate about student mental health and wellbeing? The University of Toronto will be launching a student-led Mental Health Magazine at the St.George campus. Spearheaded by Grad Minds, this initiative is aimed at promoting mental health awareness on campus, advancing our knowledge, and creating a community of support through an engaging and empowering communication platform. Grad Minds is currently recruiting photographers to join their editorial team. They are also accepting applications for journalists and design editors throughout the year. 10. Graduate Student Parent Circle
Happening on Wednesday October 412 to 2 pm at the North Sitting Room, Hart House, 3rd Floor (can be accessed by elevator as well). Connect and unwind with other U of T graduate students who have or are about to have children. Share resources, get support and enjoy relaxing craft activities! Pizza lunch will be served. 11. Join the Ride for Respect
Starting at Queen’s Park at 11:30am and ending at City Hall at 1:00pm on Tuesday, October 3. The Toronto Transit Agency (TTC), is about to set service standards and fare levels for 2018. The problem is the TTC doesn’t have enough money because Mayor John Tory and Premier Wynne refuse to fairly fund the TTC. Join TTC Riders as they call for more service on all routes across the city, two hour fare transfers, and truly affordable fare discounts for low and moderate income riders.
