1. UTGSU Office Closure for the Winter Break
The UTGSU Office Reception and Health and Dental Insurance Office will be closed on Monday, December 18, 2017, to January 2, 2018, and re-opening to regularly scheduled hours on January 3, 2018. If you require additional information during our office closure in relation to your health and dental plan, you can find more information on the Student Care website at www.studentcare.ca. Please refer to their ‘Contact Us’ page for additional information about their holiday hours and emergency contact information. If you are faced with an academic advocacy issue during our office closure, you can refer to the resources available on the UTGSU Academic Advocacy webpage. If you need to get in touch with the UTGSU directly, you can email Dave Eaton, the Executive Director at executivedirector@utgsu.ca. Happy holidays and we look forward to seeing you in 2018!

2. Health and Dental Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is covered by your UTGSU Health and Dental Insurance (HDI) plan. The coverage is for 120 days of each trip. Students who are leaving on a recognized academic exchange are also covered for the duration of their exchange and for another 120 days before and after their approved exchange. They must remain Members of the UTGSU and pay fees to The University of Toronto including the Health Plan fee and keep their provincial health-care coverage.

3. Health and Dental Insurance Opt-out and Opt-in Period: January 1-31, 2018
Important:
The Health and Dental Insurance Change-of-Coverage Period for NEW students only starting in January 2018 is January 1-31, 2018. Full and part-time graduate students are automatically covered by the UTGSU Health & Dental Plan. There is no waiting period to be enrolled in the plan, however, there is a blackout period for students starting in January (until March 1) for submitting their claims. The University sends the list of all active students directly to the broker to be uploaded to the Green Shield System after the enrollment period is completed. Please visit our website for more information at www.utgsu.ca/insurance.

4. Health & Dental Insurance Plan Coverage After Convocation
If you are on the UTGSU Health and Dental Insurance (HDI) Plan, and you graduated in November, you will still be covered under the plan until December 31, 2017, provided you paid the Fall fees. You can purchase the 12 Month Extended Coverage. The opt-in dates are January 1-31, 2018. For more information, please view your benefits package on: www.studentcare.ca. If you require additional help, email the HDI Office at health@utgsu.ca.

5. Winter Welcome Social
The UTGSU and Hart House, with sponsorship from SGS, have partnered on a Winter Welcome Social for the new year. The event will take place on January 10, 2018 from 5-7pm in the Hart House Music Room and all returning and incoming graduate students across all three campuses are welcome to attend. The event will be filled with winter-themed snacks, games and a raffle draw for individual prizes worth up to $60. More information on the event can be found at: https://goo.gl/h3kgM6.
