1. GRADFEST on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018!
Calling all incoming and returning graduate students! Join us on Wednesday, September 5th, 2018 from 4 pm to 7 pm for UTGSU’s annual Fall Orientation: GRADFEST! Enjoy a day filled with free food, swag bags, games and a chance to learn about all the services provided through the UTGSU. You’ll also get the chance to interact with awesome graduate-specific information tables that will highlight all of the resources around campus. Message from Your Health Plan Administrator: Welcome to the new Academic year. Starting September 1st 2018, please visit the Graduate Students’ Union website: www.utgsu.ca/insurance for the following:

Opt In and Opt Out Dates: September 1st-October 2, 2018 (no exceptions will  be made if you miss the deadlines)

The UTGSU Health & Dental Office is currently seeking a candidate for a part-time contract position. Familiarity with Student Union health and dental plans are an asset, must be a graduate student. 4. UTGSU 2018-2019 Annual Resource Guide Notebooks Are Here!!!
The UTGSU’s 2018-2019 Annual Resource Guides have arrived! Come out to UTGSU’s Gradfest 2018 or visit the UTGSU office to grab one. This guide is an important tool that provides graduate students with graduate-specific information to enhance their campus experience. Please note that this year’s Annual Resource Guide is a notebook and not an agenda.

5. Sign Up for the UTGSU Volleyball League 
The UTGSU Volleyball league will be starting in October. Three divisions are available – Recreational, Intermediate, and Competitive – and the league will run Monday to Wednesday nights from 5pm to 11pm. Registrants can register as a team, or individually (will be grouped together or placed with another team). Registration opens on August 27, 2018. Last day to register for the league is Friday September 14th at 5PM. More information about the league and how to register is available online at https://www.utgsu.ca/volleyball/. If you have any questions please feel free to email volleyball@utgsu.ca  and/or come to Gradfest where we will have a table with information about the league as well the opportunity to register in person.

This important Standing Committee of UTGSU Council oversees the Union’s legislation and governance practices. Based on your experience in governance and academic skills, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to conceptualizing the POC Program for 2018-2019, editorial streamlining of existing documentation, or priority restructuring according to Not-for-profit Corporations Act legislation, also remembering housekeeping bylaws/policies concerning appeals, elections, and UTGSU’s own student mental & overall health legislation. We welcome motivated U of T Graduate Students who are willing to learn from scratch as well as those with any experience or interest in constitutional, corporate, and human rights law, policy and equity studies, or political philosophy. 7. Sexual Violence and Harassment Prevention in Fieldwork
Does your degree program involve fieldwork? Are you interested in working to develop a set of guidelines aimed to prevent sexual violence and harassment in the field and support survivors? If so, please contact Sam Stead at governance@utgsu.ca

 OPIRG Toronto is looking for volunteers for this year’s Disorientation 2018! The full schedule for Disorientation 2018 will be released in early September but they need people to join the organizing committee now to help them get there!
