1. Health and Dental Insurance Opt Out Reimbursement
The Health and Dental Insurance opt out reimbursements by Direct Deposit were sent out on November 15th. The cheques were mailed out on November 16, 2018. Please note: Due to the Canada Post Labour Disruption, there may be delays in receiving your mail. If you do not receive your cheque by November 30, 2018, please send an email to: health@utgsu.caYou should have received an application number after you opted-out. That is your confirmation that your opt-out was successful. Please forward the email with the confirmation number, including your student number, to health@utgsu.ca  and we will investigate your reimbursement status.

2. Reserve the UTGSU Gym for December 2018 and January 2019
To reserve space in the gym, reservations for one-hour time slots will take place on November 28, 2018 for both December 2018 and January 2019 for Graduate Students. The UTGSU gym will close on December 14th, 2018 and will reopen on January 14th, 2019. Please call the UTGSU office on November 28th beginning at 10:00 AM or send an email to gym@utgsu.ca. The gym can be reserved for Badminton on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 5-6:00 PM or on Fridays from 5-10PM. Basketball slots can be booked on Thursday from 5-8:00 PM and Drop in Basketball is from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

3. 1 week left to apply to the UTGSU Graduate Community Development Fund (GCDF)
The Graduate Community Development Fund (GCDF) was created in partnership with the School of Graduate Studies (SGS) at the University of Toronto to provide merit-based equity awards recognizing exceptional students on campus for their contributions to the graduate experience. A total of 15 awards are to be distributed this academic year and there are a total of five $1,000 awards and ten $500 awards to be won. The deadline to apply for these awards is 11:59pm on November 25, 2018. For more information and the application form, visit: www.utgsu.ca/gcdf.

4. The UTGSU Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be hosted on December 3rd, 2018!
The UTGSU Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be hosted on December 3rd, 2018! This is a great way to get involved and direct the activity of your Union and is open to all graduate students. The meeting will be held at Wilson Hall, New College – Room 1016. Registration begins at 5:45pm and the meeting at 6:15pm. 5. Research Education and Governance Committee (REG) Meeting held on December 5th
Are you a graduate student interested in doing advocacy work within and related to the University’s governance structure? If so, consider getting involved in your students’ union and joining the Research Education and Governance (REG) committee. Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, December 5th at 4pm at 16 Bancroft Ave in the Grad Loft (the top floor). During this meeting, we will identify and discuss our priorities for the year and begin planning our initiatives. If you have any questions, please contact Sam Stead at governance@utgsu.ca.

6. RSVP to the Race and Ethnicity Caucus RECing Ball Party
The UTGSU’s Race and Ethnicity Caucus (REC) is pleased to announce their inaugural semester wrap party for racialized students and allies. After another grueling semester of writing assignments, exams and, for some, dissertations, come raise your spirits and celebrate your hard work and resilience with FREE FOOD, MUSIC, PRIZES and GREAT CONVERSATION. 7. Executive Search: Professional Graduate Students’ Caucus
Are you a professional graduate student? Do you care about issues unique to professional programs? The UTGSU is searching for motivated students to help re-launch the PGSC, and make its voice heard by the university administration. 8. International Workers Caucus Social: Monday, 26 November, 4:30-5:30pm
Are you an international student, a Postdoc or an Instructor working in the U of T under study or work permits? Come join us for a social event to both get to know other international workers, and discuss common issues you may have with working and living on campus. Pizza and refreshments will be provided.

9. Bikechain Winter Cycling Workshop
While Toronto in January may not be the ideal place for a bike ride, with a little preparation, winter riding is totally doable! Join Bikechain on Wednesday, November 28th from 6:30-8:00pm to discuss proper gear, setting up and maintaining your bike, and tricks and tips to keep safe while riding in the winter. 10. Focus Group on Gender, Disability and Inclusion in the Workforce
Students for Barrier-free Access (SBA) is collaborating with the Scarborough Women’s Centre to host a Focus Group for Cis & Trans Women with Disabilities on the topic of Gender, Disability and Inclusion in the Workforce. Join them on Thursday November 29 from 10am-12:30pm. Attendant care and light refreshments provided. TTC Tokens will be provided. Participants will receive a $20 gift card to Tim Horton’s. 11. English Cafe and Job Search Workshop for student partners/spouses
The International Student Connect will be offering the English Cafe series and a Conducting Effective Job Search workshop . All international student partners/spouses are welcome to attend and should register with University Settlement.
