Conference and Academic Engagement Grants
(formerly known as Conference Grants)

The University of Toronto Graduate Students’ Union (UTGSU) offers a limited amount of funding annually in order to support conferences, workshops, or other academic events organized by graduate students at U of T. The purpose of this Grant is to foster collective or cooperative work amongst graduate students within or across disciplines.

This grant does not fund individuals or groups who wish to attend or present work at academic conferences here or abroad. Funding for graduate students to present at external conferences generally comes from the department. The procedures and amounts vary drastically from department to department. Ask your supervisor or graduate coordinator for details.

The application form for the 2017-2018 Conference and Academic Engagement Grant can be downloaded here: 2017-2018 Conference and Academic Engagement Grant Application Form (PDF).

The maximum grant for any one academic event is $600.00.

Deadline: There are two rounds of funding available.
For conferences and academic events that take place during January to April, please apply to the first deadline. For conferences and academic events that take place during May to December, please apply to the second deadline.

First deadline: Monday November 27, 2017 at noon. Cheques will be available to successful applicants starting on January 30, 2018.
