Opting-Out & Opting-In

**All opt-out/opt-in periods are announced in the weekly UTGSU Digest**
**No exceptions will be made if the opt-out date is missed**

How to Opt-Out

To opt-out, you must show proof of equivalent insurance (not OHIP). You must opt-out annually, at the beginning of the term you are first registered in. You cannot rejoin the plan after you have opted-out, so check the expiry date on your insurance. Visit www.ihaveaplan.ca to opt-out online.

Fall 2015: September 1 – September 30, 2015

Winter 2016: January 4 – January 22, 2016

Opt-Out Reimbursements

The Opt-Out cheques will be mailed out in November 2015 for the fall session, and, again in March 2016 for the winter session. If you do not receive your cheques by the end of April, please forward the confirmation email you received when you opted out and we will forward it to the broker for investigation. You now also have an option for “direct deposit”. If you wish to use this option, please indicate this on the opt-out form and provide your banking information.
